This meat sauce may remind people of Sloppy Joes.

Picadillo

1 teaspoon olive oil

1 cup diced red onion

2 cloves garlic, crushed

1 cup diced green bell pepper

½ pound lean ground round beef

1½ cups low-sodium, no-sugar-added tomato sauce

1 tablespoon drained capers

2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoon white vinegar

Salt and fresh ground black pepper

2 small whole wheat rolls

Heat oil in nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, garlic, green pepper. Saute 5 minutes. Add beef. Brown, breaking it up into small pieces as it browns. Drain fat. Add tomato sauce; mix well. Add capers, Worcestershire sauce, white vinegar. Lower heat to medium; cook, simmer, stirring occasionally, until meat is cooked through. Taste for seasoning. Add salt, pepper to taste and more vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, if necessary. Serve on rolls.

Yield: Serves 2.
