Warm and Creamy Bacon Dip
8 ounces low-fat cream cheese, softened
2 cups low-fat sour cream
6 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
1½ cups shredded reduced-fat Mexican-style cheese blend
1 cup chopped green onion
FOR SERVING:
Toasted bread slices
Vegetables on skewers
Whole-grain crackers
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine ingredients in 1-quart baking dish. Cover, bake 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly, hot. You also can slice about ¼-inch piece off top of round sourdough loaf, set aside. Hollow out loaf; cut up bread to serve with dip. Spoon dip into hollowed-out crust. Replace top slice. Wrap bread bowl in foil. Bake in preheated 400-degree oven 30 minutes.
Yield: 4 cups.
Approximate nutritional analysis per 2 tablespoons of dip: 57 calories, 4 grams fat (2 grams saturated), 2 grams carbohydrates, 3 grams protein, 100 milligrams sodium, 13 milligrams cholesterol, no fiber.
