Grand Forks Olive Garden to open Jan. 23

After years of rumors and waiting, a new Olive Garden restaurant will open in Grand Forks later this month.

Olive Garden, located at 3160 32nd Ave. S. near the Columbia Mall, will have its first day of business on Monday, Jan. 23. The restaurant is in a new building on the site of the former Columbia 4 movie theater, which was demolished last summer.

According to a news release, Olive Garden will be open for dinner 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday of its first week, and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday. The restaurant will offer lunch and hold regular business hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday beginning Saturday, Jan. 28.

The 7,441-square-foot restaurant will have seating for 246 and will have 165 employees.

Manvel, N.D., resident Donald Szutenbach will serve as general manager. He has been with Olive Garden for 10 years, most recently as a general manager in Decatur, Ill.

According to a company news release, Olive Garden is the nation’s leading casual dining Italian restaurant chain. It is a division of Orlando-based Darden Restaurants Inc., which also operates the Red Lobster brand.

Olive Garden has more than 750 restaurants across North America with more than 88,000 employees and more than $3 billion in annual sales. The chain also has locations in Fargo, Bismarck and Minot.
