Western N.D. births increase in 2011

BISMARCK — Hospital officials in Bismarck and western North Dakota say births were up last year.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that both Bismarck hospitals set records in 2011 with more births. At St. Alexius Medical Center, 1,434 babies were born. Medcenter One had 770 births.
The number of babies born at Dickinson's St. Joseph's Hospital increased from 361 in 2010 to 412 in 2011. Officials say it was the biggest number of births in Dickinson since 1994.
At Mercy Medical Center in Williston, 526 babies were born last year, up from 430 births in 2010. Mercy expects to have 600 births in 2012.
