This holiday classic is easy to make.
Spritz Cookies
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup cream cheese, softened
¾ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
2½ cups all-purpose flour
Colored sugar or sprinkles (optional)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Put baking sheets in freezer to chill while you make dough. Beat together butter, sugar, cream cheese, salt, vanilla until creamy. Beat in egg yolk. Stir in flour. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto baking sheets or put dough into cookie press and press out onto sheets. If desired, decorate cookies with colored sugars or sprinkles. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown around edges. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
Yield: 60 cookies.
