FARGO — The North Dakota State football team moved up a spot to No. 4 in the final Football Championship Subdivision coaches' poll of the season.
NDSU downed Western Illinois 37-21 on Saturday and secured a first-round bye in the FCS playoffs. The Bison got one first-place vote in the final poll, but it wasn't enough to leapfrog Northern Iowa, Georgia Southern and new No. 1 Sam Houston State.
The University of North Dakota also moved up one spot, to No. 21. The Fighting Sioux over the weekend edged South Dakota 38-37. USD received some votes in the final poll but dropped out of the Top 25.
