MINOT — Amtrak has restored passenger service to North Dakota's fourth-largest city.

The Minot depot that was damaged by Souris River floodwaters in late June and shut down was reopened today.

The Minot Daily News reports that the train continued stopping in Minot for fuel during the five-month shutdown, but Minot passengers had to get on and off the train in Stanley, Rugby or Williston.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said repairs so far have cost about $200,000, and more work is needed.
