Polk County Public Health announced today the flu vaccine will be available for children between the ages of 6 months and 19 years who qualify for the Minnesota Vaccine for Children.

Qualifying children are either uninsured; covered by medical assistance or another Minnesota health care program; American Indian or Alaskan Native; or underinsured, meaning they either have insurance that does not cover vaccines or only covers selected vaccines, or has a cap on insurance coverage, or the deductible has not been met.

Both the vaccine shot and nasal mist are available. There is no cost, but a donation fee of $5 is requested to cover administration costs.

A walk-in clinic is set for Oct. 19 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Polk County Public Health office in Crookston, 721 S. Minnesota St. No appointment necessary. For more information, call (218) 281-3385.
