Asperger Manitoba Inc. will host the first national conference on Asperger syndrome from Oct. 4-6 at the Franco Manitoban Cultural Center in Winnipeg.
The conference will be the first opportunity for people from all across Canada to meet and discuss a national strategy on research, support and innovations that are occurring and what it means to the stakeholders in the Asperger community, a news release said.
Asperger syndrome is a neurological disorder considered to be an autism spectrum disorder. It is speculated that there are move than 3,000 people in Manitoba and almost 93,000 people across Canada that are affected by Asperger syndrome.
The conference has been designed to answer questions that caregivers, health care professionals, advocates of children, youth and adults with AS and self-advocates may have.
