Joe Black’s renovation project complete

As a result of the project, the bar area became larger and the kitchen area became smaller. Part of the kitchen space was removed during the project. Two interior walls also were knocked down, opening up the space.

An interior renovation recently was completed at the Joe Black’s Bar & Grill at 118 N. Third St. in downtown Grand Forks.

As a result of the project, the bar area became larger and the kitchen area became smaller. Part of the kitchen space was removed during the project.

Two interior walls also were knocked down, opening up the space. A large overhang left over from the former Joe DiMaggio’s restaurant also was removed.

“People who have been out of town and come back in for the first time say, ‘Wow,’” said Dennis Blackmun, who co-owns Joe Black’s along with partner Joe Schneider.

Blackmun said the change made sense because Joe Black’s didn’t need as large of a kitchen as its predecessor, Joe DiMaggio’s.

Adding more bar space also makes sense for Joe Black’s, a popular nightspot, which does much of its business at the bar.
