Give this grilling favorite some bang with a jalapeno-mayo topping.

Texas Turkey Burger

¾ pound ground, white-meat turkey

3 tablespoons barbecue sauce

Salt, freshly ground pepper

Vegetable oil spray

1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped

3 tablespoons reduced-fat mayonnaise

2 whole wheat hamburger buns

1 small tomato, sliced

Mix turkey, barbecue sauce. Add salt, pepper to taste. Form into 2 patties, about 4 inches across, ½-inch thick. Heat nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat with vegetable oil spray. Add burgers, cook 3 minutes each side. Turn heat down to medium. Cover skillet with lid. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until meat thermometer reads 165 degrees. While burgers cook, mix chopped jalapeno, mayonnaise. When burgers are cooked, place each on bottom half of hamburger bun. Place several slices of tomato on each. Spread mayonnaise on top half of bun. Close.

Yield: Serves 2.
