By: Herald Staff Report,

Make your Fourth of July cookout one to remember with this entree.

Asian Barbecue Sirloin Steak

1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

1 large yellow onion, finely chopped

1 green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1½ pounds sirloin steak, fat removed and thinly sliced

1 cup Asian-style barbecue sauce

1 large ripe tomato, cut into eighths

8 cups steamed white rice

In large skillet or saute pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onion, pepper and garlic and saute until soft and onion is translucent, about 3 minutes. Add sirloin steak slices and cook until browned. Drain off any excess liquid. Add barbecue sauce and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add the tomato and simmer for 2 minutes. Serve over the steamed rice.

Yield: Serves 6.
