Substitute this condiment for tartar sauce the next time you serve fish.
Lemon Aioli
Juice of 3 lemons
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/8 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill
Salt
Ground white pepper
Place lemon juice, garlic and turmeric in a blender; process until smooth.
Pour into a small pan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer until about 2 tablespoons of liquid remain. Remove from heat, pour into a medium bowl and let cool.
Add mayonnaise, dill and salt and pepper to taste. Whisk until smooth. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
Yield: About 1 cup
Approximate nutritional analysis per tablespoon: 105 calories, 11 grams fat (1.5 grams saturated), 5 milligrams cholesterol, no protein, 1 gram carbohydrates, no sugar, no fiber, 75 milligrams sodium, no calcium.
