BISMARCK — The North Dakota Transportation Department and the Federal Highway Administration have sent a team of experts to evaluate a heavily traveled highway in the western part of the state that was closed Friday.
Officials say ground shifting caused the pavement to buckle on N.D. Highway 22 north of Killdeer, making the road impassable.
The team is evaluating proposed designs for both a temporary bypass and a permanent repair. The team also is looking at other highways in the region, including U.S. 85 and N.D. 73 and 8.
