Lorraine G. Gunderson, 88, Grand Forks, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at her home with family at her side.

Lorraine Glendora Sondreson was born September 5, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Olson) Sondreson in Milton, ND. In her early twenties, she moved to Oregon, and started working as an electrician and housekeeper. She then moved back to Grand Forks and met Gustav Gunderson and married June 27, 1949 in Crookston, MN. Lorraine worked until retirement, at the University of North Dakota, in foodservice as a head cook. After she retired, she proceeded to work part-time. On March 30 2011, she received "The Mother Theresa - Phenomenal Woman Award" from UND. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening, rummage sales, baking, and going to the casinos with family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Brent) Demarais, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jeremy, Ashlynn, and Sammi Demarais; great-granddaughter, Naomi Wilson; sister, Edith Einarson, Kasispell, MT; brother, Victor (Rita) Sondreson Seattle, WA, and another precious one on the way, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and special friends Betty Tweed, Marty Erickson, Celeste Long Elk, and Vince Kerzmann.

She joins her parents, husband, Gust; daughters, Lila and Diana and foster daughter, Suzie; eight siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews with the Lord.

Lorraine will be remembered by her laugh, smile, sense of humor, baked goodies, and generosity. She is and will be forever loved and missed. Mom, you requested to be brought home so you can rest in your "big red chair" and this was your final rest to go home.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 815 20th Street North, Grand Forks, ND.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday.

Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery South, Grand Forks, ND.
