Former UND hockey standouts Chris Porter and Travis Zajac will represent their respective countries at this year's International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Slovakia.

Porter was one of 16 players selected by USA Hockey to play for the United States. Zajac accepted an invitation to play for Team Canada.

The two were Fighting Sioux teammates in 2004-05 and 2005-06, helping lead UND to the NCAA Frozen Four each year. Porter now plays for the NHL's St. Louis Blues and Zajac plays for the New Jersey Devils.

The IIHF World Championship is April 29-May 15.
