ST. CLOUD, Minn. — St. Cloud State University is moving closer to going completely tobacco free.

Last month a task force recommended the campus go completely smoke free by Aug. 1, 2012. Now the students have also voted in favor of that recommendation.

WJON reports that of the just over 1,200 votes cast, 63 percent favored going tobacco free while 37 percent opposed the idea.

SCSU President Earl Potter will have the final say. He hasn't said yet when he'll make that decision.

St. Cloud's other MnSCU school — St. Cloud Technical and Community College — has already gone tobacco free.
