Travel alert includes Devils Lake, Grand Forks areas

Cities affected by the travel alert, in effect through Saturday morning, now include Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Jamestown and Valley City.

By: Associated Press,

A travel alert now includes Devils Lake and Grand Forks through Saturday as heavy snow causes deep slush, reduced visibility and icy road conditions across much of North Dakota.

The state Department of Transportation expanded its original travel alert at 4:45 p.m. to include the Devils Lake and Grand Forks areas through Saturday morning; the original alert was for central North Dakota, including the Jamestown and Valley City areas.

The travel alert has been lifted for the Bismarck and Minot areas.

Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.

The National Weather Service expects snowfall over the Red River Valley to slowly taper off by tonight.
