Winnifred K. "Wravie" Hanson, age 97 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

Winnifred K. "Wravie" Hanson, age 97 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

Winnifred Kathleen Burns was born in rural St. Thomas, ND. the first born child of Patrick and Alice (Callahan) Burns on July 22, 1913. She is a graduate of Grafton High School, class of 1930. On November 4, 1935, she married Gilbert Andrew Hanson from Grygla, MN in St. Thomas, ND. They lived and farmed in the Auburn, ND area. Winnie was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital, later known as Unity Hospital, as a receptionist/secretary from 1955-1981.

Winnie was a homemaker whose hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening and feeding and watching birds. She excelled at solving crossword puzzles. A resident of Lutheran Sunset Home since 2002, Winnie loved having visitors. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society of Grafton, ND.

Survivors include her son William (Dianne) Hanson, Longmont, CO; two granddaughters: Julie (Richard) Storick, Castle Rock, CO; Deanna (Brian) Carter, Sammamish, WA, four great grandchildren: Kelly and Evan Storick and Grant and Andrew Carter; one brother: Marvin (Shirley) Burns, Auburn, ND. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Along with her husband and parents, Winnie was preceded in death by two brothers: Norman Burns, Leslie Burns and a sister Beatrice Mattson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:15 P.M. at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery of St. Thomas, ND.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Lutheran Sunset Home, 333 Eastern Ave. Grafton, ND 58237.
