This is a great condiment for chips.

Indian Six-Layer Dip

1 cup light or regular sour cream

1 tablespoon curry powder

1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup Greek-style yogurt

½ cup Major Grey’s chutney

½ cup sweetened flaked coconut

½ cup sliced scallions

½ cup roasted salted peanuts

1 bag pita chips, rice crackers, or pappadams

Mix sour cream and curry powder and spread in a small shallow pie plate or gratin pan. Sprinkle with cheese. Mix yogurt and chutney and spread over cheese. Sprinkle with coconut and scallions. Just before serving, sprinkle with peanuts. Serve with chips, crackers, or pappadams.

Yield: Serves 12.

Approximate nutritional analysis per tablespoon: 32 calories, 53 percent calories from fat, 2 grams fat (1 grams saturated), 4 milligrams cholesterol, 2 grams carbohydrates, 2 grams protein, 43 milligrams sodium, trace fiber.
