Barbara Muesing, Crookston, letter: United Way deserves Crookston’s support

The United Way of Crookston invites Herald readers who live within 25 miles of our community to give generously to the United Way wherever you live. Small donations and big donations add up to make a positive difference.

CROOKSTON — The United Way of Crookston shares the Herald’s view that “the United Way has earned Americans’ trust,” as noted in the newspaper’s Oct. 23 editorial (“United Way deserves GF-EGF’s support,” Page A4).

That trust rightfully extends to Americans across the country as we strive to live united.

The United Way of Crookston has launched our campaign, too. Our aspirations are similar to those of the United Way of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and Area: We provide opportunity for people within our 25-mile area to make a single donation that will benefit many worthy agencies, organizations and projects.

A local board decides the allocations, and our executive director, Lori Wagner, manages the process to ensure the money given stays close to home.

We also keep tabs on the agencies we serve to make sure donations to the Crookston United Way are used only for purposes that support the United Way mission. We know we cannot take the public trust for granted.

The United Way of Crookston invites Herald readers who live within 25 miles of our community to give generously to the United Way wherever you live. Small donations and big donations add up to make a positive difference.
