Catherine Arnott Smith, Middleton, Wis., letter: Thanks for ‘well-written, accurate’ story

MIDDLETON, Wis. — I am writing to thank the Herald for the excellent piece on Crohn’s disease (“When Crohn’s takes hold,” Page A1, Aug. 30).

I’m interested in this for both personal and professional reasons: Personally, I’m the mother of a pediatric inflammatory bowel disease patient; professionally, I teach consumer health information and health information systems on the graduate school level.

For both those reasons, I have a Google news alert permanently running to clue me in about media presentations of IBD.

Unfortunately, well written and accurate stories on this subject only happen about 1 out of 20 times. Yours was very good, and I hope people see it and learn from it.
