HUTCHINSON, Minn. — Fans of “the stinking rose” descend on Hutchinson today for the fifth annual Minnesota Garlic Festival.

It features foods, chefs, music, artisans, games — and lots of garlic. It’s sponsored by the Crow River Chapter of the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota.

Organizers say 13 Minnesota garlic growers will have the first of their fresh 2010 crop at the festival. They grow over 100 varieties, all planted in October, harvested in July and cured to perfection just in time for the festival.

It runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the McLeod County Fairgrounds.
