ST. PAUL — The death toll from the swine flu in Minnesota stands at 60 after the state Health Department reported two new deaths.
The department reported Wednesday that a Washington County resident died in November 2009 while a Rice County resident died earlier this month. Both victims were between 20-29 years old and both had chronic health conditions.
The department has been reviewing records of deaths during the outbreak to make sure that all flu deaths were counted properly.
The department says there were no flu outbreaks in schools or long-term care facilities and no new hospitalizations the week of March 14.
In addition to the 60 deaths directly linked to swine flu since May 2009, there have been seven other flu-related deaths that weren’t directly tied to the pandemic strain.
