Book ’em

Put pen to these embossed 240-page journals, part of the Passions Collection from Moleskine, to document noteworthy wine or food experiences. Jot down tips, observations and recipes, and add one of the included stickers for easy labeling. Reference pages in the recipe journal include a calendar of in-season foods. The wine journal has a glossary of wine descriptors.

The 8-by-5-inch notebooks are $19.95 at moleskineus.com.

Making miracles

Dairy Queen will host the Fifth Annual Miracle Treat Day in the U.S. on Aug. 5, when $1 or more from every Blizzard sold at participating locations will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals.

Dairy Queen is one of the top ten contributors to Children’s Miracle Network raising more than $81 million since 1984. Last year on Miracle Treat Day, Dairy Queen locations across the U.S. and Canada raised $4.6 million for 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.

International Dairy Queen is headquartered in Minneapolis.

Pantry sauces

Of course, if we didn’t get home at 8 p.m., making our own sauces from scratch would be a no-brainer.

For nights when opening a jar is all we can hope to achieve, Good Housekeeping’s Good Food line is a fresh-tasting, all-natural alternative to homemade. The “pantry collection” includes sauces such as Soy Ginger Marinade, Mexican Green Sauce and Apple Spice Mustard.

The products are $6 or less at select grocery stores; see goodhousekeeping. com/store for more information.
