Albert J. Kovar

Albert J. Kovar, 86 of Tabor, MN passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN.

Albert was born on June 23, 1923 the 9th child of Joseph and Mary (Vasek) Kovar. Albert attended a one room school in District #46. After finishing school Albert began farming with his dad and brothers.

On May 22, 1945 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Vanyo in Tabor, MN. In 1959 Albert began working winters at a potato wash plant for Lawrence Boushey Potato Company. In 1962 he joined brothers, George and Bill, along with Albert, George and William Vasek and purchased the wash plant. Vasek & Kovar Potato Company stayed in operation until 1971. He farmed with his brother Bill until 1987, and continued to farm with his sons and grandson until his retirement.

Albert's favorite pastimes included playing cards, horseshoes, dancing and going to the casino. Albert very much enjoyed spending time with his family.

Albert is survived by his 8 children: Richard (Karen) Kovar of East Grand Forks, MN Darlyne (Mike) Edgar of Hastings, MN, Genevieve ( Ron) Vonasek of East Grand Forks, MN, Tom Kovar of Grand Forks, ND, Julie Scheving of East Grand Forks, MN, Debra (Joel) Duray of Rice, MN, Joe (Jennifer) Kovar of Grand Forks, ND and Bob Kovar of East Grand Forks, MN; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one brother Frank Kovar of East Grand Forks, MN.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy on October 7, 1994; sisters: Anna Wavra, Emily Arnold, Mary Horken-Lange, Christine Kovar; brothers: Henry, Joseph, William and George Kovar.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Tabor, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 p.m. Prayer Service on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Tabor, MN

Interment: Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Tabor, MN
