'Tis the season for Bundles of Joy, cream-cheese stuffed crescent rolls that resemble a baby in swaddling clothes.

Bundles of Joy

2 tubes refrigerated crescent rolls, such as Pillsbury

2 8-ounce bars cream cheese, slightly softened

½ cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup apricot preserves

ICING:

½ cup confectioners’ sugar

About 1 tablespoon milk

1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Keep rolls cold until you are ready to use. Cream together cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Lay out dough triangles so that point is at top and long end is to left. Put approximately 1 heaping teaspoon cream cheese mixture horizontally down center of triangle and smooth into an oval shape, going from about 1/8 inch from top to ¼ inch from bottom. Make an indentation, or well, down center of cream cheese. Fill it with about ½ teaspoon preserves just below top of cream cheese. Fold small end over the cream cheese and seal at bottom. Fold long end over top of short end and wrap around “baby” and back up over top. Gently pinch bottom to seal.

Bake at 350 degrees for until golden brown. Drizzle or coat with icing made by combining the confectioners” sugar, a teaspoon at a time of milk and vanilla; add more milk as needed to reach desired consistency.

Yield: 24 bundles.
