Bertha L. Endres, 90, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.
Bertha Luella Schnabel was born January 21, 1919 in Tripp, SD the daughter of Heinrich and Emma (Meyer) Schnabel. She graduated from Geddes High School in Geddes, SD and attended Mitchell Business College in Mitchell SD. Following her graduation, she was employed with Griggs Clothing Company in Mitchell. Bertha married Lester F. Endres on September 3, 1946 in Mitchell. Following their marriage, they operated a farm in Huron, SD and later owned and operated the Mill Motel in Milbank, SD. In 1965 they moved to Brainerd, MN and owned and operated the Lakeview Trailer Park. They retired in 1978 and spent the winter months in Arizona for over 20 years. Lester preceded her in death on October 15, 2001. Bertha moved to Grand Forks in 2005 and entered assisted living.
We are so thankful to have had these last years with her living in Grand Forks. She loved plants, flowers, watching birds and of course cooking and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Andrew) Fritz, Grand Forks, ND, Diane Endres, Baxter, MN; a brother-in-law, Rheinhold Hieb, Mitchell, SD and a grandson, Sean Fritz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; a brother, Leo Schnabel; sisters, Adeline Crago, Elsie Hieb; an infant sister, Gertrude and a grandson, William Carl Endres-Rolloff.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brainerd, MN.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 in the Gregory J. Norman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour before the funeral service in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd on Monday.
Burial: 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 in Minnesota Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
