MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota's churches and other faith community gathering sites are among the places that state health officials are warning to take precautions against the spread of h1n1 flu, also known as swine flu.
The governor's Council on Faith and Community Service, working with the Department of Health, is urging congregations to avoid use of communal cups, at least for the fall. It's even urging that hand contact or passed trays be avoided for the time being.
Also urged is the placement of hand sanitizers in pews or near entrances to church buildings.
Worshippers with a fever are being warned to avoid their places of worship, as they would any public place, for at least 24 hours after their fever has lifted.
Churches are also warned to consider not holding potluck events during flu season.
