ST. PAUL — Minnesota health officials say they’re braced for a difficult flu season, but they just don’t know how bad it will be.

Health officials briefed reporters in St. Paul on Wednesday. They said a lot depends on how well the vaccine for ordinary seasonal flu matches the strain that emerges this fall and winter.

If it’s not a good match and the swine flu virus takes a much more aggressive turn, the officials say Minnesota could see mass school closings, canceled sporting events and an overwhelmed health care system.
