The Cardinals won the East Grand Forks Cal Ripken championship during the league tournament held July 20-27.
The Cardinals regular season record was 14-9, good for third place in the league. The third seed going into the playoffs, they defeated No. 6 Fisher 11-1, No. 2 Red Sox 5-3 and lost to No. 1 Mets 6-1. In the loser bracket, they eliminated the No. 5 Rockies 11-6 to advance to the championship game with a rematch of the No. 1 Mets.
The Cardinals won the first game 13-5 to force a deciding game. Dodging a couple rain showers, the Cardinals rallied with five runs in the top of the sixth to win 8-6. The Cardinals final record was 19-10.
The Cardinals team members are: Cole Hammargren, Nathan Heisler, Alex Heisler, Dryden Dragich, Max Christiansen, Tyler Lindstrom, Eddie Bushaw, Trevor Kozel, Javy LaMora, Andrew Knopp, Dylan Brander, and Tye Ausmus.
Coaches are Troy Hammargren, Mark Dragich, Tracey Heisler, and Marc Demers.
