GF-Thompson Bomerz take second at Las Vegas AAU tournament

The Grand Forks-Thompson Bomerz, a local AAU girls basketball team just returned from Las Vegas, NV, where they took 2nd place in the AAU Division 1 West Coast Nationals held at the Las Vegas Hilton Convention Center July 21-23, 2009.
This group participated in the 7th grade Division and had a 3-1 record.
They beat the Sacramento Spirit and the San Francisco Lady Rebels in pool play. In bracket play, the beat the Salt Lake City Lakers 58-36. In the championship game, the Bomerz led much of the game before losing 48-40 to GBL, a highly acclaimed team from Los Angeles, Calif.
Team members pictured above are Shayla Strauss, McKale Duttenhefer, Destinee Williams, Nicole Fennell, Shannon Galegher, Daizjah Williams, Sierra Duttenhefer, Brooke Yaggie, and Jennifer Trader. The Bomerz are coached by Dr. Colin Fennell, Grand Forks. Other team members are McKenna DeMoe, Bethany Ivesdal, and Karleigh Weber.
The Bomerz will be traveling to Oklahoma City to participate in the Mid-America Youth Basketball National Tournament being held August 7-9.
