FINLEY, N.D. - A jury found 35-year-old Darin Dahl guilty of attempted murder and felony reckless endangerment after less than two hours of deliberating today.

Dahl of Cooperstown, N.D. was accused of firing on officers -- hitting one in the helmet – while holed up in a Luverne, N.D., home.

Aside from the typical guilty and not guilty verdicts, jurors had a third option on both charges of finding Dahl not guilty due to a mental defect.

Two psychologists gave differing opinions on Dahl’s mental state during the 22-hour standoff. Both said he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
