Southern Charm Social

Thursday at Badman Designs: North Valley Arts Council is sponsoring a trip down South from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 at Badman Designs, 18 S. Third St., Grand Forks. This event will feature a silent auction by artists from the area as well as southern hors d’oeuvres and music. They will also be giving tours of the new Arts Creation Center opening next year. ‘Drawn and Needled’ Exhibit

Through Aug. 31 at NWMAC gallery: The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council has opened a new showcase titled “Drawn and Needled” featuring the drawings of Brett Lysne, Moorhead, Minn., and the needle felting of Candace Osborn, Ada, Minn. The exhibit, which is being held in the River Walk Artists Shop and Gallery at the Riverwalk Mall, will be on display through the end of the month. Cost: Free. Info: (218) 745-9111.

Mini Art Exhibit

Through Sept. 5 at Thief River Falls Public Library: The Northwest Regional Arts Council is holding a mini art exhibit that will travel to several regional libraries throughout the summer and fall. The exhibit includes original paintings, photography, drawings, pottery and more and is now at the Thief River Falls Public Library, 102 First St. E., through Sept. 5. Cost: Free. Museum of Art Exhibits

Through Oct. 5 at Museum of Art: The North Dakota Museum of Art has opened three new exhibits. In “Fractured: North Dakota’s Oil Boom Exhibition,” photographer Terry Evans and journalist and filmmaker Elizabeth Farnsworth explore the impact of the current oil boom on the Williston Basin region. “Bead” by Glen Hanson displays a Lakota technique consisting of beads layered down in rows of seven on deer hide. Finally, “Robert Rauschenberg: Four Decades of Work On Paper” features lithographs and prints. Cost: $5 suggested donation. Info: (701) 777-4195.
