‘The Fantasticks’

  • Today at Northland Theater: The Thief River Falls Area Community Theater is performing “The Fantasticks” at 7 p.m. at Northland Community and Technical College. This famous off-Broadway musical tells the story of two neighboring fathers who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. ‘The Wizard of Oz’

  • Today at Empire: The Empire’s Summer Arts Safari Camp will perform a special presentation of the beloved classic “The Wizard of Oz” at 7 p.m. at the theater. Info: (701) 746-5500.


  • Today, Saturday at Warroad High School: The Warroad Summer Theater is performing “String” at 7:30 p.m. at the Warroad High School Mini Theater. This hilarious romantic comedy chronicles the unlikely courtship between a poet and a pizza delivery boy. Additional 2 p.m. show: June 29. Celebrate Kennedy Festival

  • Saturday at Kennedy Community Garden: Several area authors are attending the Celebrate Kennedy Festival, commemorating the small Minnesota town’s 125th anniversary. Blues on the Red

  • Saturday at Grand Forks Town Square: Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the return of this annual Grand Forks classic from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Grand Forks Town Square. The first Blues on the Red of the season will feature opener Cole Allen Band and headliner Mooseknuckle Bros. There will also be food and a beer garden. Cost: Free. Info:

Alumni Concert

  • Saturday at Red River: Past stars of the Summer Performing Arts Company are coming together to perform in this special alumni reunion performance featuring singers that have graduated in the past 20 years. Glenn Miller Orchestra

  • Sunday at Myra Museum: The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will perform from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Myra Centennial Pavilion. Cake and ice cream will be provided by Hugo’s as well as a beer garden from O’Really’s Irish Pub. Bring your lawn chairs and come early to get a good spot. Cost: Free, donations welcome. ‘Seaside Visions’ Exhibit

  • Through Sunday at Minnesota Arts Council: The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is hosting an exhibit titled “Seaside Visions” through June 29 at its gallery in the River Walk mall in East Grand Forks. The exhibit showcases artwork by East Grand Forks native Erin Nelson and her student Karlee Westrem. Mini Art Exhibit

  • Through July 25 at Hallock Public Library: The Northwest Regional Arts Council is holding a mini art exhibit that will travel to several regional libraries throughout the summer and fall. The exhibit includes original paintings, photography, drawings, pottery and more and is now at the Hallock (Minn.) Public Library, 101 First St. E., through July 25. ‘Decades of Paint’ Exhibit

  • Through July 27 at Museum of Art: The North Dakota Museum of Art is holding an exhibition titled “Decades of Paint” by Mary Bonkemeyer, a 93-year-old painter from Santa Fe, N.M. Bonkemeyer thinks of her paintings as “traces or marks that weave together, quiver, alternate, and slowly the eye registers and reads an unrepeatable pattern.” This is her first exhibit. The museum is also holding exhibits featuring sculpture by Craig Langager and “Song of Eurydice” by Douglas Kinsey. Cost: $5 suggested donation. Info: (701) 777-4195.
