THE LIST: Easter Egg Scramble ... 'Last of the Boys' ... Grand Cities Idol

Easter Egg Scramble

  • Friday, Saturday at Alerus: The Alerus Center is hosting an Easter Egg Scramble starting at 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Friday’s events include bounce houses, cookie decorating and a cupcake walk, while Saturday will feature an Easter egg hunt starting at 9:30 a.m. for ages 2 and 3, 10:30 a.m. for ages 4 and 5, and 11:30 a.m. for ages 6 and 8. ‘Last of the Boys’

  • Friday, Saturday at Fire Hall Theatre: The Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre presents “Last of the Boys,” a show commemorating the 50th anniversary of the official entrance of the U.S. into Vietnam at 7:30 p.m. The war may have ended, but the ghosts live on. Park District Art Show

  • Today through Tuesday at Choice Health: An art class held through the Grand Forks Park District will display its work in an art show held at Choice Health and Fitness. The show will feature oil paintings by local amateur artists featuring a variety of content. At least 150 pieces will be on display, a number of which will be for sale. Cost: Free. ‘Walden: The Ballad of Thoreau’

  • Tuesday at UMC: UMC is hosting two performances of the two-act, four-character play at 12:30 and 7 p.m. in the Kiehle Auditorium at UMC. The play takes place in the final two days Henry David Thoreau spent at his cabin before leaving Walden Pond and challenges the audience to live a simpler life and preserve the environment. Grand Cities Idol

  • Tuesday at Chester Fritz: Students from Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River and East Grand Forks Senior High will compete for the title of Grand Cities Idol starting at 7:30 p.m. Cost: $10 adults, $5 students. Info: (701) 777-4090.

Global Visions Film Series

  • Tuesday at Memorial Union: The Global Visions Film Series returns to UND this spring on select Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the UND Memorial Union Lecture Bowl. The next screening will be “A Hijacking,” a Danish thriller that alternates between the events on board a hijacked ship and those occurring in the shipping company’s office back in Denmark. Jazz Series

UND Wind Ensemble

  • Thursday at Chester Fritz: The UND Wind Ensemble will present a spring concert at 8 p.m. in the Chester Fritz Auditorium. The finest wind and percussion musicians on campus will perform pieces including “A Winged Heart” by Grand Forks native Matthew Peterson, “Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger and “Masque” by Kenneth Hesketh. Shrine Circus

  • April 25-27 at Ralph: The KEM Shrine Circus is coming to Grand Forks for three days of clowns, acrobats and elephants. With amazing stunts and feats, the whole family will be entertained. Show times are 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Cost: $12 advance, $14 day of the show, children 12 and younger free. Info: (701) 777-4167.

Art Exhibition

  • Through April 27 at Middle River: The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is hosting an art exhibition at the Middle River American Legion, 245 Second St. N., Middle River, Minn. The exhibit will feature over 120 pieces of visual art, photography, mixed media and more by adult and high school artists from northwest Minnesota.
