A big part of each practice, and each game, is UND’s athletic training staff.

On Monday, there were 13 student trainers helping with practice in a variety of ways.

UND student athletic trainer Kara Wetzel, above, helps Aeron Carr stretch during practice. Spencer McCormick, another trainer, hands water to player Maverick Edmunds.

The students are majoring in athletic training, working to obtain a bachelor of science degree through the UND School of Medicine.

Overall, there are 37 students in the athletic training program.

The students are led by Steve Westereng, UND’s director of sports medicine.
