UND program gets $16.8 million grant
UND Professor Donald Sens has received a $16.8 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, the university said Wednesday.
The money, which will be disbursed over five years, will pay for researchers to study how human health is affected by environmental factors, particularly exposure to compounds that may be carcinogenic.
Sens directs a state program that administers the funds. Since 2001, the program has received $45 million from NIH.
He and his colleagues study how chemicals affect genes and trigger cancer and other diseases.
