UND FOOTBALL: UND picks up transfer from Minnesota
The UND football team picked up its second Football Bowl Subdivision transfer of the week on Thursday.
North Dakota coach Bubba Schweigert continued to revamp his roster by announcing the addition of former Minnesota defensive tackle Jordan Hinojosa.
Earlier this week, UND added Alex Tillman, a defensive back from the University of Houston. Tillman has one year of eligibility remaining.
Hinojosa, meanwhile, has three years of playing time available. A Miami native, Hinojosa spent one season at Coffeyville Community College before redshirting for the Gophers in 2013.
Hinojosa is eligible immediately.
“Jordan will bring a hard work ethic along with explosive play to our defensive line,” Schweigert said. “He played against some of the top high school teams in the country down in Miami, then signed with a Big Ten school, so that shows you his ability and potential. We’re excited to add him to our defensive front and see what he can do for us this season.”
Hinojosa was a Rivals 3-star recruit out of high school. He held offers from Wake Forest, Michigan State and West Virginia, according to Rivals.
During the 2012 season at Coffeyville, Hinojosa collected 12 tackles and a sack in seven games.
The 2012 high school graduate from Miami Central High School was the state’s No. 4 rated defensive tackle as a senior. He helped lead his team to a 13-1 overall record and runner-up finish in the Florida Class 6A state championship game as a senior.
