UND Art & Design professor dies
Joel Jonientz, a UND Art & Design professor, died Monday at Altru Hospital.
UND announced his death in a universitywide email Tuesday. Jonientz was 46.
Bill Caraher, a UND history professor, remembered him as friend and inspiration on a blog post Tuesday.
“Joel was a remarkable guy. … He could go from moderating a panel of poets, artists and writers at the UND Writers Conference to complaining about an offseason move by the Seahawks in a moment,” Caraher wrote. “More than any of that, he was a family guy. He loved his wife and kids in a way that gave perspective to the entire world and gave him a consistent set of priorities that guided his life, work, and friendships.”
Herald archives show Jonientz’ involvement in several conferences and art exhibits.
