UND Alumni Association to continue raising funds for energy complex

The UND Alumni Association and Foundation said this morning it will continue to raise funds toward the construction of the $15 million Collaborative Energy Complex on campus.

Alumni Association spokesman Milo Smith said the CEC was chosen because of the boom in the number of students going into energy development field."They started the program with just a handful of students and now they have over 125 enrolled," he said. "I think that one kind of has a sense of urgency to it so that's why it was identified." The money raised could also go toward a new business school building.The Alumni Association hopes to raise $20 million, which the state is expected to match with $10 million.Smith said the money will all go into an endowment fund, with the interest generated paying for the projects.
