Train derails near Adams, N.D.

A train derailed about one mile east of Adams, N.D., Thursday, spilling soybeans.

Julie Chalich, spokeswoman for Northern Plains Railroad, said three cars were tipped on their sides, causing minimal track damage. The accident happened about midmorning. No one was injured.

Chalich said she expected service to return to normal Friday.

Northern Plains is small regional railway with offices in Fordville, N.D., and Erskine, Minn., according to its website.

Adams is in Walsh County, about 70 miles northwest of Grand Forks.
