Thomas L. Gregoire
Thomas "Tom" Gregoire, 90, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks.
Thomas L. Gregoire was born May 23, 1923 in Grand Forks County, North Dakota the son of Arthur and Emma (Dorgan) Gregoire. He was raised in Grand Forks and attended St. Marys School. He entered the United States Army on March 4, 1943 at Tacoma, WA and during World War II, was part of the 37th Division Calvary Reconnaissance Troup, State of Ohio, Company G. 129th Infantry. He served in Guadalcanal, the Philippines and Bougainville. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged from military service on December 21, 1945 at Fort Lewis, WA. He returned to Grand Forks and was employed as a Pressman with the Grand Forks Herald from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. Thomas married Margaret Degelder on November 26, 1949 in Joliet, ND. Margaret preceded him in death on December 5, 1999. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 157, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817, the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 350 and past Secretary of Pressmans Union.
He is survived by his children, Beth (Mike) Bruggeman, Erskine, MN, Douglas (Jill) Gregoire, East Grand Forks, MN, Mickey (Mrs. Steve) Litzinger, Phoenix, AZ, Joan (Scott) Enright, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Andy, Joey, Erin, Jasen, Aaron, Noelle, Adam, Becky, Jackie, Stevie, Heidi, Tony, Ben, Josh, Leah, Jake; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Effie (Mrs. Delbert) Gregoire and Mary (Mrs. Herman) Gregoire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; brothers, Herman, and Delbert; sisters, Frances Foisey, Evelyn Gregoire, Rosella Fortin and son-in-law, Steve Litzinger.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 in St. Michaels Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Wednesday.
Burial: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND, in the spring.
Military Honors: Accorded by the American Legion Post 157, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3817 and the North Dakota National Guard.
