Student brings knife to Grand Forks elementary school
An 8-year-old from Lake Agassiz Elementary School was taken to Altru Hospital in a "high emotional state" after coming to school with a knife Tuesday, according to Grand Forks Police.
According to a statement, police said they did not think students at the school were threatened or in danger nor was the school placed under lockdown.
Police received a report of a student with a knife at about 1:45 p.m. A caller said the boy had been separated from other students in a secure room. Responding UND Police officers found the student in a high emotional state and recovered a small, unopened folding knife in the student's pocket.
The boy was not injured but was taken to Altru for an evaluation.
The incident is being investigated to see whether any staff members were threatened during the incident.
