Spiritwood, N.D., man injured in crash near Jamestown

A Spiritwood, N.D., man was injured when he lost control of his pickup on icy conditions at about 10 a.m. Monday east of Jamestown, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol. The accident occurred at mile marker 262, just east of Interstate 94 exit 262.

Gerald Carlson, 68, was extricated from his 2005 Ford Ranger by the Jamestown Fire Department utilizing the Jaws of Life. He was transported by Jamestown Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and later transported by air ambulance to Fargo for further treatment.

Carlson was traveling westbound on I-94 when he lost control on the icy road, the patrol said. His vehicle entered the median and rolled several times before coming to rest in the south ditch of the I-94 eastbound lane.

Carlson was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation, the patrol said.
