Spicy Pie coming to Grand Forks

Spicy Pie in Fargo.

A new pizza shop is coming to Grand Forks later this year.

Spicy Pie, which has locations in Fargo, West Fargo and Minot, is slated to open next to Noodles and Co. at 3000 32nd Ave. S., according to Duane Wages, a real estate agent for Dakota Commercial & Development Co.

Wages said Monday a lease hadn’t been signed, but they were close to a deal. A Facebook page for a Grand Forks Spicy Pie location was created last week, and had almost 1,400 likes by Tuesday evening.

Mary Brown, the marketing director for Spicy Pie, said they’ve heard positive reviews from people in Grand Forks who visit the Fargo locations.

“So we figured, ‘Why not expand that way?’” Brown said.

According to its website, Spicy Pie specializes in New York-style pizza, which means large, thin slices. The restaurant offers single-slice servings and full 18-inch pizzas, and allows customers to customize their own pies.

Its menu also includes chicken wings, grinders, tacos, tostadas and salads.

The first Spicy Pie opened in downtown Fargo in 2010, followed by locations near North Dakota State University, Minot State University and in West Fargo.

Brown said the company hopes to open in Grand Forks by late November or early December.
