After hearing about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge while watching ESPN, bar owners Bill Tyrrell and Adam Badolato decided they would try the challenge themselves.

However, instead of just dumping water on their own heads, they decided to host an open challenge for any and all prospective patrons of Rumors Sports Bar & Grill in Grand Forks. Their idea: One bucket of water = one free drink inside the bar. After the challenge they will make a universal donation to the ALS Association for an amount to be determined by participation.

After a surprisingly easy setup; all they needed were buckets, which were donated by ACE Hardware, ice, water and towels, which were donated by Ameripride, Choice Fitness and the YMCA, they were on their way.

With a few friends committed to the challenge, a staff of reluctant volunteers, and the regulars around the bar, they saw a decent turnout, and in the end, Tyrrell and Badolato took the proverbial plunge as well.
