The Green Wave scored 86.33 points to edge runner-up Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (80) for the boys division title here Saturday in the Minnesota Section 8A track meet.

Senior High was up only 78.33-78 entering the meet’s final event, the 4x400 relay. The Wave pulled away by finishing second in the relay to Dilworth-G-F’s seventh.

“We were close the whole meet,’’ Senior High coach Kirk Misialek said.

Brock Scheving was a double open-event winner, as the senior took the shot put and discus. The Wave foursome Miguel Perez, Tanner Seim, Austin Kloety and Alessandro Dos Santos  won the 4x800 relay and Senior High had runner-up finishes in the 400 (Zach Tingelstad), 800 (Perez) and the 4x100 relay.

“Brock winning two events, that was huge,’’ Misialek said. “And Zach beat (third-place finisher Brandt Delage of Crookston) for the first time this season.

“We had kids stepping up and scoring a few points here and there where we didn’t expect them. They all added up.’’

The section title was the first since 2005 by the Green Wave boys track team.

Senior High placed fifth in the girls division with 66.5 points.

Park Rapids Area won the meet with 99 points, followed by Roseau with 95 and Norman County with 86.
