PREP HOCKEY: Three Knights named to all-state team
State runner-up Grand Forks Central has placed three players on the North Dakota boys high school all-state hockey team.
Knights named to the all-state team, as selected by the state coaches’ association, are Cole Kirchoffner, Casey Johnson and Taner Bender.
Johnson, a senior defenseman, paced the 19-8-0 Knights in points (32) and assists (23). Kirchoffner, a junior forward, had a team-leading 15 goals and was third on the team with 26 points. Bender, a junior, was 18-8-0 in goal with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.
Also named to the all-state team from the area were Jade Miller of Grafton-Park River and Austin Moser of Devils Lake.
Miller, a senior forward, paced the 15-8-1 Spoilers in points (38) and assists (24) and tied for the team lead in goals (14). Moser, a senior forward, led the 6-17-0 Firebirds in points (31) and goals (21).
LeNoir on second team
Peyton LeNoir of Grand Forks has been named to the second team of the North Dakota girls high school all-state hockey team, as selected by the state’s coaches.
LeNoir, a sophomore forward, was second on the KnightRiders with 17 goals and tied Tori Christian for the team lead in points, each with 31.
