PREP FOOTBALL: EGF’s head coach resigns
The East Grand Forks Senior High football program is in search of a new head coach.
Scott Oliver, who completed his fourth season with the Green Wave last fall, said he has resigned as football coach.
Oliver will continue to teach at Senior High and will remain an assistant coach with the Wave boys hockey program.
Oliver will also continue to work with the Upper Midwest Elite Hockey League in the fall.
“Basically, the last four years I’ve had Green Wave football Monday morning through Saturday morning and elite league Saturday through Sunday night,” Oliver said. “I had to remove something from my plate.”
Oliver led the Green Wave to a Minnesota Section 8AAA championship in 2010.
“I love football, but I’m passionate about hockey,” Oliver said.
Prior to coaching at East Grand Forks Senior High, Oliver was the boys hockey coach at Roseau, where he led the Rams to the 2007 Minnesota state Class AA championship. In his six seasons with Roseau, the Rams were 124-45-5.
He was also at the University of Minnesota-Crookston as football coach from 1995-2002. During his time at UMC, the Golden Eagles advanced to the NAIA national playoffs.
